Open banking & pay by bank
Pay by bank lets customers pay directly from their bank account instead of using a card. We help you decide where account-to-account payments and open banking data can reduce costs or improve verification, then source the right provider and support the integration.
Who this is for
E-commerce businesses, platforms and merchants looking for an additional payment method, lower payment costs or easier account verification. Businesses taking recurring payments can also explore variable recurring payments where the required banks and use case are supported.

FAQ
Your questions, answered.
- What does a customer do when paying by bank?
- The customer chooses their bank and approves the payment in their bank's app or website. They do not give you their online banking password. Your provider then confirms the payment status.
- Is pay by bank cheaper than taking cards?
- It can be, especially for larger transactions, but the saving depends on the provider's charges and your payment mix. We compare the full cost against your card setup before recommending it.
- Can it replace my card payments?
- It is usually best considered alongside cards, not as an automatic replacement. Customer preference, bank coverage, refunds and the checkout experience all matter when deciding where to offer it.
- Can I use it for subscriptions or recurring payments?
- Some providers support variable recurring payments, where customers authorise future payments within agreed limits. Availability depends on the banks, market and use case, so we check support before proposing a solution.
